ARMY WIVES

Southern Cross Ten, 8.30pm

IF Wisteria Lane was a cul-de-sac on a military base, then it might look something like this.

This very watchable 13-part US drama is set at a fictional military post called Fort Marshall.

It is based on the book Army Wives: The Unwritten Code of Military Marriage by Tanya Biank, and has already been a big hit in the US.

The central characters are Roxy LeBlanc, Claudia Joy Holden, Denise Sherwood (Catherine Bell, pictured) and Pamela Moran.

Friendships are formed, politics develop and play out on the army base, and occasionally the soldiers their deployed husbands don't come home.

FACE PAINTING WITH BILL LEAK:

BON SCOTT

ABC1, 8pm

ARTIST Bill Leak tackles one of Australia's biggest names in rock'n'roll: the great, late AC/DC frontman and larrikin Bon Scott.

In each episode of this series, Leak builds a personal picture of the subject he's trying to capture on canvas.

To capture his subject's "essence", Leak spends time with Scott's ex-wife, Irene, who shares her memories of his earlier life and his off-stage persona.

THE EX LIST

Southern Cross Ten, 9.30pm

A FORTUNE-TELLER reveals that if Bella (Elizabeth Reaser) doesn't marry within a year she never will, and that she has already met her perfect mate.

So she looks up her former lovers to see if they are worth a second chance.
